Solvay is an advanced materials and specialty chemicals company. The company is the largest chemical platform in France, with 2,000,000m², 32km of roads and 35km of railway tracks.
On the production site of Pont de Claix, the company uses old but robust circuit breakers. MasterGrid is asked to refurbish defective parts, which are then replaced directly on site.
Challenge of the project
To extend the life of its equipment, and thus avoid a complete refurbishment which requires both the use of more materials and longer intervention times, Solvay has opted for renovation.
MasterGrid intervenes to replace only the necessary worn parts. This operation requires a high level of expertise, as well as the ability to supply the required spare parts quickly.
Our response
To carry out this work, we follow the manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule for original equipment and replace any parts that need replacing.
All the work was carried out directly on the Solvay site: removal of circuit breaker poles and circuit-breaker hydraulic drive, replacement with new and identical ones…
The team also carried out the oilrefilling, as well as all the control tests prior to switching back on.
MasterGrid also handled the destruction or recycling of faulty parts.
