ArcelorMittal France created a new production unit for electrical steels at its Mardyck site in the north of France. The new production unit will produce the electrical steels used in electric motors and will have a 200,000-tonne production capacity.
Challenge of the project
To fulfil the needs of its new manufacturing site, ArcelorMittal wants to increase the power of its high voltage substation. MasterGrid is consulted to make the engineering studies and execute extension works on the 225 kV substation.
Our response
During a year of work, our different teams mobilized to realize this extension of 4 000m² of the 225 KV substation which includes 2 busbars, 2 bays with each: 2 disconnectors, 1 circuit breaker, 1 bus coupler and 1 transformer 225/20kV 55MVA, 1 20kV underground cable, 1 20kV Busbar, as well as a complete system of line, cable and transformer protection.
A major mobilization of our know-how, from project conception through to completion.
